Configuration Guide

General Settings

Visual theme, scores per page, ABC editor line-wrap width, chords per bar, preferred MIDI instrument (played by the voices that have no instrument of their own), and the repository's sort direction all live here and apply everywhere in the app. Changes save automatically a couple of seconds after you stop editing, and are kept on the server rather than in this browser — so your theme, instrument and layout choices follow you to any device you sign in from, free account or subscriber alike. Your musician profile, instruments, bands and courses are not here: they live on the Musician page, reached from your avatar in the header.

Data Safety (free accounts)

Free accounts keep their music only in this browser's local storage — there is no off-device copy, and it can be permanently lost if browsing data is cleared, the device or browser changes, or storage is reclaimed under disk pressure. Subscribing moves your repository to permanent, off-device server storage with nothing to configure.

Tablature Options

Controls how tablature is laid out when a tablature instrument is active on a score: how many measures per line, which side the toolbox sits on, and whether the computed tab appears above or below the standard notation. Tablature without its score sets where a voice read from its tab alone (its Score switch off in Voices) writes its chord names and draws its rhythm stems: above or below the tab, chords above and stems below by default.

My keyboards

Melodeons and concertinas differ a little from one maker to another, mostly the first and last buttons of each row. Pick the standard keyboard closest to yours (G/C or B/C melodeon, Anglo C/G concertina; the Eiru is offered as a starting point for the concertina), then tap any button to change its push and pull notes, each heard as you change it. On a melodeon you can also add or remove a button at either end of a row and edit the left hand, 8 to 16 basses and chords. Changed buttons are marked with a star, and Back to standard undoes one button or the whole keyboard. Every melodeon or concertina tab you read is then fingered on your own keyboard, on every device you sign in from; the scores are never changed, so a musician you share them with reads them on theirs. The instrument card on your Musician page links here.

Your Cloud subscription (subscribers)

Subscribers find this section first on the page. It shows your plan and lets you switch between Cloud and Supporter; Supporter is everything Cloud gives you, at a higher price, for musicians who want to help keep the project going, with a limited number of places. A switch goes through your payment provider and can take a moment to show up. There is no commitment. "Cancel subscription" stops the next renewal and nothing else changes that day: you keep Cloud until the end of the period you paid for, and "Keep Cloud" undoes the cancellation before then. When the period ends, the next time you sign in the app moves your tunes, folders and attachments into your browser, checks them, and only then deletes the Cloud copy. What ends with Cloud is the version history, Bands & Courses, your public musician page and offline pins. Cancelling also downloads a backup file of your folders and tunes as a spare copy; it lists your attachments but does not contain the files. A reminder email comes before a yearly plan renews.
